The intention for this series was to offer a visual study of the urban cultural, rural and coastal scenes of Bali, combining the discovery of the local traditional culture with a certain taste for Pop Art style. Some of the images stand out for evoking the tropical atmosphere of the island, sublime and esoteric. The characters portrayed range from an absurd and colourful jelly seller, naked tourists on the beach, to the simple beauty of Bali in the busy
marketplace. The challenge is not to make any judgments, but simply to observe the behaviours, colours, sounds and movements of the peculiar inhabitants and visitors. In fact, colours are used to express an emotional value, rather than for visual representation. The collection was exhibited in the Alila galleries, in Ubud, Cemara 6 Art Centre and dia.lo.gue- artspace, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
